MVRDV partner and Asia director Wenchian Shi has been invited to join the jury of the 2026 CTBUH China Awards. In her role on the jury, Shi will use her extensive experience in architecture and urban planning – combined with her ability to lead international collaborations – to bring valuable insight to the jury. Among her many projects at MVRDV are the Tianjin Binhai Library, the Shenzhen Women and Children's Centre, and Gate M West Bund Dream Center in Shanghai, works that represent her ability to transform complex urban challenges into bold, people-centered designs.

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) is the world’s leading nonprofit organization for all those interested in the future of cities. It explores how increased urban density and vertical growth can support more sustainable and healthy cities, especially in the face of mass urbanization and the increasing effects of climate change worldwide. The relationship between policy, buildings, people, urban density, urban space, interior space, and infrastructure is key.

Partner, Architect and Urban Planner, Wenchian Shi is the driving force behind MVRDV’s Asia Studio. Shi joined MVRDV in 2004, and after four years of demonstrated successes, she became a Project Leader overseeing the office’s broad body of work in China, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore, and in 2016, Partner. Prior to joining MVRDV in 2004 and thereafter expanding the office’s portfolio in Asia, Wenchian worked at OMA, contributing to the design of the highly acclaimed CCTV Headquarters in Beijing.
