The 11.000 m2 artwork covering the ceiling of Markthal, which was created by Rotterdam artists Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam, has been nominated for a Dutch Design Award in the 'Habitat' category. The artwork, entitled 'The Horn of Plenty', is also featured on the cover of the Dutch Design Yearbook. The winners will be announced during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven on October 24th.

The jury's statement said: 'The work shows that the perception of a space depends on the proper application of art. Coenen has realised an extravagant atsmophere which the architect could not, by themselves, have created. The work is hugely impressive statement, and has created a major public attraction in Rotterdam.' Markthal has receieved numerous awards in areas as diverse as property development and engineering. This is the first award to honour the crucial creative work of the artists Arno and Iris.
