The cover, which had remained a secret up until today, was revealed by publisher nai010 in a presentation of the Architecture in the Netherlands Yearbook 2014/2015 to mark the launch of the book in Rotterdam. The book, now in its 28th edition, is available in a single English and Dutch version for €39.50 starting today. It collates 30 of the year’s most important projects, along with competitions, awards, exhibitions and publications, selected by a team of four editors. The editors of the yearbook are Tom Avermaete (Professor of Methods and Analysis at Delft University of Technology), Hans van der Heijden (architect), Edwin Oostmeijer (freelance project developer) and Linda Vlassenrood (curator, architecture critic and programme director of the International New Town Institute). This year’s Yearbook was the first to include more renovation projects than new buildings.

The Markthal has already attracted over three million visitors in the last six months. The arch of 288 apartments covering 96 fresh produce stalls, was opened by Queen Maxima of the Netherlands in October 2014, and has received significant attention from the international media ever since. Winy Maas was awarded the Rotterdam Marketing Award together with Director of development company Provast for the success of the building. The Markthal also won the MIPIM Award for Best Shopping Centre, a prestigious prize from the world’s largest real estate fair, and has also been nominated for the Royal Institute of Dutch Architect’s (BNA) Building of the year award.
