Artificial Mountains: 1600 construction workers are on site realising MVRDV's Amanora Hills Future Towers in Pune, India. The first phase of the 370.000 m2 mixed use housing complex is scheduled for completion in 2015. Rather than choose a familiar building type for this project, MVRDV imagine a structure resembling a landscape formation, with peaks and valleys, canyons and bays, and grottos and caves. Its irregular geometry defines three distinct blocks and pedestrian links through the building with the adjacent park. A variety of indoor and outdoor amenities and unusal spatial qualities encourage a rich social life to develop, creating a vertical community.
