The 5th edition of the ARCHMARATHON Awards has just ended. The event, held in the setting of Palazzo Mezzanotte, was attended by 55 architectural and interior design studios coming from 23 countries and 4 continents. 16 different category winners were announced during the event. But besides these category winners, there were two overall winners - one for the Architecture macro category and one for the Interior Design macro-category. We are happy to announce that MVRDV is the winner of the macro category with Seoullo 7017 Skygarden!

The jury:
“Projects that work at the micro- and macro-scales are rare. Projects that work at both scales in a context that is little known to architects in the West are rarer still. MDRDV’s project in Seoul does both: it is visionary, deeply historical and works both through and across disciplinary boundaries in an unprecedented and exemplary way. Its premise is simple: to bring the garden into the urban landscape in ways that make us re- think our relationship with the natural world, questioning leisure, retail, social media and sociability and programme simultaneously. It is an outstanding example of the marriage between research, speculation and practice, a masterful piece of work in every sense of the word."
