We congratulate Het Nieuwe Instituut for receiving an 11-million euro grant from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science to preserve and maintain its architectural collection.
The architecture collection is also home to MVRDV's archive, the first major archive to be added to the State Archive for Architecture that consists primarily of digital materials. With 4 million objects, Het Nieuwe Instituut's architectural archive in the largest in the world. In the Netherlands, it is relatively unknown, but internationally it is highly regarded. The collection includes archives of seven hundred architects, associations and courses.
These include esteemed individuals such as Pierre Cuypers, Cornelis van Eesteren, Gerrit Rietveld, Theo van Doesburg and Jaap Bakema.
