On February 3rd, Winy Maas will give the open lecture "The Happy City: After the Rotterdam Market Hall", organized by Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam.
The idea of this open lecture came in connection to one of the six specializations IHS offers in the field of Urban Management and Development. Urban Competitiveness and Resilience (UCR) is aimed at understanding the relationship between global and local economic development. One of the objectives is to understand how local economic factors (wealth) and social innovations (well-being) in the city can lead to urban prosperity and happiness.
During his lecture, Winy Maas will address questions, such as: "Are wealthy cities necessarily happy cities?" or "How do inhabitants perceive and qualify their cities?"
