MVRDV's director of North American projects, Rutger Huiberts, will deliver the keynote lecture at the Future Cities Forum on September 28, organised by the Philadelphia chapter of the Council for Vertical Urbanism (CVU). With the event focusing on the topic of "rethinking cities through carbon", Rutger's presentation will begin from MVRDV's recent explorations in carbon emissions, from the exhibition Carbon Confessions to the CarbonSpace software, before delving into our research investigations into urban sustainability, and finally presenting our low-carbon designs, with a particular emphasis on tall buildings – from transformations such as the Shenzhen Women & Children's Centre, to new builds like the Tour & Taxis Towers and Nachteiland. Following Rutger's keynote lecture, he will join a panel discussion with Scott Erdy (Erdy McHenry Architecture), Matt Morettini (Hines), and Dave Kaminski (Turner Construction Company), moderated by Janine LaMarca (TLC).
