On May 25, 2026, Frans de Witte, Partner at MVRDV, will give an online lecture at the AIBC Conference 2026 in Vancouver, Canada.

In his lecture, titled "Designing with People: How Design Responds to Communities and Context", Frans will share how MVRDV’s approach to placemaking is shaped by community engagement and user-focused design. Drawing on projects in the Americas and beyond, he will show how the studio responds to the social and spatial context of each site and uses participatory processes to create places that can be shared, enjoyed, and adapted over time.

Frans’ lecture is part of the AIBC Conference 2026 theme, People / Place / Possibility, which explores how architectural practice is influenced by the communities architects serve, the environments they design within, and the futures they seek to shape.
