What does the future of the Czech Republic look like?
On 16 May at PULSE Ostrava, founding partner Winy Maas will discuss his long-standing fascination with Prague and the country, which began with his first visit in 1983, and how the Czech Republic could look in the future. Reflecting on his time both as a visiting professor at the Czech Technical University's architecture department, followed by leading a design studio at the Architecture Institute in Prague (ARCHIP), alongside our research and work in the territory, Winy will explain how MVRDV's principles of design and the local context influence our projects and how we innovate.
The ‘M’ of MVRDV, Founding Partner and Principal Architect Winy Maas has received international acclaim for his broad range of urban planning and building projects, across all typologies and scales. These are often self-generated, innovative, experimental, and theoretical. Driven by this dedication to green, user-defined, sustainable cities and spaces, Maas’ leadership drives many of the office’s award-winning projects, amongst them Rotterdam’s Markthal, Crystal Houses, the Tianjin Binhai Library, Valley and the first publicly accessible art depot in the world, Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen.
