How does MVRDV push the boundaries of technology?
On 13 May, Senior Associate Christine Sohar will deliver a keynote at the Future Brick Days that provides a comprehensive overview of the work of MVRDV's in-house specialists, NEXT. Incorporating an overview of how research and data has been intrinsic to MVRDV's projects since its foundations through the likes of FARMAX, Christine will explain how computational technologies and scripting were fundamental to Valley, and how outputs of NEXT's research enables visionary tools and software such as SolarScape to be delivered, helping MVRDV to model, simulate and assess the impacts of complex spatial scenarios in real-time. Discussing climate change, Christine will elaborate on how seriously the practice takes designing with carbon, and how the creation of CarbonScape has enabled early-stage life-cycle assessment for impactful design. Further discussion of IPAI, and the masterplan and "The O" in Mannheim will provide additional illustration of NEXT's work.
