On 8 May, founding partner Winy Maas will join a GENS Public Programme event to explore the question “How can we leverage architecture’s relationship with computation and algorithms to design transformational practices which, in turn, respond to precarious urban conditions across the world?"

With a topic titled "Synthesising Complexity for Regenerative Futures", the discussion will also feature Fleur Watson, Albert-László Barabási, and Claudia Pasquero. Referencing fellow panellist and Exhibition participant Alisa Andrasek’s installation Agentic Architecture, a research project committed to tackling systemic planetary challenges through scalable design solutions, they will discuss how architecture can deliver for a more sustainable future.

The ‘M’ of MVRDV, Founding Partner and Principal Architect Winy Maas has received international acclaim for his broad range of urban planning and building projects, across all typologies and scales. These are often self-generated, innovative, experimental, and theoretical. Driven by this dedication to green, user-defined, sustainable cities and spaces, Maas’ leadership drives many of the office’s award-winning projects, amongst them Rotterdam’s Markthal, Crystal Houses, the Tianjin Binhai Library, Valley and the first publicly accessible art depot in the world, Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen.
