Cosimo Scotucci to debate AI in landscape architecture at Wageningen University

How will artificial intelligence affect landscape architecture?

AI is now routinely used in a number of architectural disciplines including landscape architecture, but what are the consequences? It's possible that its deployment could make us more creative - and even more human. It assists in visualisation, analyses, and brainstorming, and for some designing with these new possibilities is positive. But what it comes to landscapes, can it approximate its complexities? Some landscape architects are already using AI within their design processes, while others avoid it. There's also a possibility ethical dilemmas will keep us from using AI’s full potential. Bearing all this in mind, will AI-generated designs ever surpass human-made designs, or is it simply another tool that helps us be more efficient?

On 24 April at Wageningen University, Architect and Senior Project Leader Cosimo Scotucci will participate in a debate focused on these questions. Joining moderator Dr. Rudi van Etteger, and speakers Ricardo da Silva Torres, Dick Scholtus, and Adriaan Moerdijk, Cosimo will reflect on the use of AI at MVRDV and more broadly, and how it will shape the future of landscape architecture.

Senior Project Leader and Architect Cosimo Scotucci works on many fields of design in MVRDV’s Asia Studio. Having joined MVRDV in 2016, he has extensive experience leading projects of various scales and phases, ranging from public buildings such as museums and theatres to skyscrapers. Integrating the most sophisticated and holistic sustainable technologies and strategy, Cosimo aims to create a new paradigm for sustainable architecture, achieving iconicity through ecology.
