How can we design cities that are child-friendly? 

On December 7th, MVRDV Founding Partner Jacob van Rijs will give a lecture for the opening of the First Child Friendly Expo in Shenzhen, where he will also be giving prizes to the winners of the Child-Friendly Design Awards. The Child Friendly Expo is the first large-scale public exhibition on the topic of child-friendly design, launched by Shenzhen City. The exhibition will target how to achieve child-friendly city construction in China and abroad focused on 5 major sections: social policies, public services, rights protection, growth space and, development environment. The Child-Friendly Design Award rewards outstanding child-friendly works, practices and, products around the world in the fields of social innovation, space design as well as product design. 

This event is organized by the Shenzhen Women and Children’s Development Foundation, a local public fund that intends to improve the living environment for women and children as well as integrate resources to promote social innovation and promote the development of women’s and children’s causes.
