How has the Expo 2000 in Hanover evolved over the past two decades?

The exhibition “Expo 2000 - 20 Years Later” with photographs by Piet Niemann will open in the BDA Hamburg Gallery on November 7th. There, a selection of large-format motifs of the expo will be displayed, highlighting the site in Hannover 20 years after the 2000 World Exhibition. This World Exhibition was the first one taking place in Germany, with its motto being “Man, Nature, and Technology - A new world is emerging”. It was the symbol of a promising, sustainable future. But how has that promise evolved over the past two decades?

On November 7th, director Sven Thorissen will be speaking at the opening of the exhibition. There, he will provide insights about the transformation of MVRDV’s Dutch Pavilion for the 2000 World Expo in Hannover, and the actions taken to bring the building back to life with the new Expo Pavilion 2.0 project.
