On 19 October Lorenzo Mattozzi will be presenting MVRDV’s project Seoullo 7017 Skygarden at La Rigenerazione delle Infrastrutture, a public event organized by the Milano Urban Center inside the Triennale Milano - Palazzo dell’Arte. What decisions transformed an unconscious symbol of city modernisation into a conscious icon of urban regeneration? How did a simple overpass become a brand for sustainable development in Seoul? Through an exploration of the project’s history, Lorenzo will explain how MVRDV’s proposal developed and transformed the overpass over Seoul Station, one of the busiest transportation hubs in the world, into a public botanical garden, becoming the catalyst for future sustainable urban refurbishments.

La Rigenerazione delle Infrastrutture is part of the Forum Rigenerazione Urbana: for an equitable, proximate, beautiful and sustainable city (between October 17 and 27), four days of meetings, lectures and debates in Milan to explore the main themes of the new Piano di Governo del Territorio: accessible housing, urban proximity, urban quality, and environmental sustainability. All meetings are free, yet admission is subject to availability, and they are also available to watch on the city of Milan's on InComune WebTvRadio.

Lorenzo, an Associate and Architect at MVRDV, oversees projects in the DAS Studio, with a specific focus on mixed-use developments, urban integration, and social connectivity. He joined MVRDV in late 2017, initially working in the Asia Studio for four years. During his time there, he successfully realized four projects, primarily in China. Prior to joining MVRDV, Lorenzo gained diverse experience working in various architectural firms in Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Brazil. His leadership is informed by this extensive background, encompassing small, medium, and large architectural firms, as well as expertise in architectural and infrastructural design, project development, and sustainability.
