Do innovative, inventive and well-designed public spaces have the power to shape successful cities?

Join Vanessa Kassabian on May 31st for a online keynote presentation on the importance of improving public spaces for the Spring Term Design Studio of Calgary's School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape. Given that public buildings provide essential services, enhance cultural experiences, and serve as hubs for engaging with institutions that shape people's daily lives, MVRDV believes in giving these buildings the attention they deserve. Vanessa will highlight projects such as the Rotterdam Rooftop Walk and Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen to showcase MVRDV's approach to public spaces and urbanism.

Director of MVRDV’s New York operations and Architect Vanessa Kassabian represents MVRDV to clients, institutions, and the public. She works closely with the design studios as well as the business development and public relations teams based in MVRDV’s Rotterdam headquarters, advocating for the office and expanding its potential to realise its bold and idiosyncratic designs in the Americas. Kassabian received her Masters of Architecture from the Pratt Institute in New York, and is a registered architect in New York State, a member of the American Institute of Architects, and a LEED Accredited Professional.
