A core element of MVRDV’s approach has always been to build for the future, a future that is equitable, data-driven and green. Our work draws from the cutting-edge of architectural knowledge, incorporating research and considering urban planning, sustainability, sociology, materials development, and more. MVRDV NEXT, MVRDV's in-house R&D group, is specifically focused in developing and implementing computational workflows and new technologies to push the limits of technical possibilities to help create bold, innovative architecture.

On February 24, Sanne van der Burgh, head of MVRDV NEXT, will participate to India Design ID, a 3-day design event. Occurring in New Delhi, it gathers Indian and international design specialists under the same roof to discuss solutions and technologies to current societal trends and needs. Building for the future being the theme of this year India Design ID, guests will share their perspective on the matter through the lens of density, design, AI, contextual architecture and more. Overall, conscious living and the conscious act of building will be examined. Sanne will shed light on MVRDV's motto, means and measures using examples in research projects and realized structures.

Associate Director, head of MVRDV NEXT and Architect Sanne van der Burgh leads multiple teams within MVRDV, realizing projects of various scales, phases, and across several continents. Sanne played an integral role in high profile MVRDV projects including the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen Depot (2021), the refurbishment of the Lyon Part Dieu shopping center (2021), and a visionary project for revitalizing New Delhi’s sanitation and infrastructure: Barapullah Springs (2020). Sanne is a versatile architect with demonstrated design achievements. In 2019, Architizer named her as one of 25 young architects to watch. In 2021, she was the winner of the Female Frontier Awards, organized by World Architecture News. She won the category “Innovation in Architecture”. Sanne regularly appears in lectures and jury’s worldwide.
