Museums around the world usually display just six to ten percent of their collections; the remaining 90-plus percent is hidden in storage. Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen is breaking with this tradition and will make all these invisible artifacts visible. Tune in for the webinar ‘’The Museum Unboxed: Managing Collections in the On Demand Age’’ where Winy Maas will speak about his architectural design of the building.
He will be joined by Sjarel Ex, the director of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, who will share his insights of collection management of this world's first publicly accessible art depot. Hester Chan, Curator of Collections at M+, moderates this webinar. Situated in the West Kowloon Cultural District, M+ is the latest addition to the Hong Kong cultural landscape, as a museum of 20th and 21st - Century Visual Culture. The webinar is organized by Asia Art Hong Kong in the context of the World Musea Forum and the Dutch Days Hong Kong.
The ‘M’ of MVRDV, Founding Partner and Principal Architect Winy Maas Ir. Ing has received international acclaim for his broad range of urban planning and building projects, across all typologies and scales. These are often self-generated, innovative, experimental, and theoretical. Maas challenges colleagues, clients, as well as students and collaborators at TU Delft’s The Why Factory – an internationally engaged think tank Maas established in 2008 – to challenge the boundaries of established standards to produce solutions that reimagine how we live, work, and play. Aside from his dedicated leadership role at MVRDV and professorship at TU Delft and elsewhere, Maas is widely published, actively engaged in the advancement of the design profession, and sits on numerous boards and juries, including the Spatial Quality Boards of Rotterdam, Eindhoven, and Barcelona.
