What is the future of urban renewal, regeneration and transformation? Join us at the Erasmus-Descartes conference on November 19 to find out more! The focus of this year’s edition will be on the circular economy, the re-use of building materials and the development of innovative new materials. Associate Arjen Ketting will participate in a panel discussion on ‘Innovation, certification and new materials’ with other stakeholders from the TU Delft, ENSAP Lille and CSTB.

Associate, BREEAM Assessor, and Architect, Arjen Ketting supports MVRDV’s Studio 8 as Project Leader for Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, due to open to the public in 2021. He has played an integral role in the development of the façade, obtaining building permission, leading the large team through the tender document and contracting stage, and conducting aesthetic supervision during the execution of this groundbreaking Rotterdam project. He has also supervised numerous interiors, landscape, and art installations projects relevant to the Depot.

The Erasmus-Descartes Conference revolves around an interactive debate between young talents and experts from society, academia and the cultural and creative industries from France and the Netherlands. The focus is on sharing concrete examples and best practices in the field of research and innovation at local, European and international level. The event will be opened by a panel with Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb, French Ambassador to the Netherlands Luis Vassy and Dutch ambassador to France Pieter de Gooijer.

  • Date & time: November 18 – 09:00-13:00 (CET).
