How does MVRDV challenge conventions, redefine rules, and imagine new ways of creating architecture to handle complex global issues? Partner of MVRDV, Fokke Moerel will discuss this on the Joyful Players event at Escuela de Arquitectura y Estudios Urbanos via Zoom September 30.

MVRDV partner Fokke Moerel was one of the first architects to join MVRDV in 1998. She leads projects with a focus on public and cultural works, transformations, and interior design all around the globe. Fokke has completed award-winning designs such as the Baltyk office tower in Poznan, Poland, the Book Mountain Library in Spijkenisse, and the Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy in Amsterdam, as well as overseeing the construction of the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, which will open this autumn. She also leads the interior architecture department at MVRDV. Fokke’s personal drive is to collaborate on the design and realization of buildings which have a strong connection to and impact on their direct surroundings, such as (semi) public buildings, refurbishments of monumental buildings which can revive their neighbourhood, and buildings with a clear end-user.

Joyful Players organizes conversations between professors from the School of Architecture and Urban Studies and architects who have positioned themselves as influential players on a planetary scale. Fokke will have a conversation about complex architectural issues with a young professor from the school. This will be an open webinar via Zoom.
