How can we transform buildings to become more open and flexible? MVRDV co-founder Jacob van Rijs will share his vision on urban transformations during a lecture at the Catholic University of Chile on March 30. He will illustrate how MVRDV tries to improve existing buildings to regenerate urban areas by talking through the various transformation projects MVRDV realized over the years.
“For us at MVRDV, architecture is about people. A good design is one that allows people to feel happy, to be comfortable, to achieve their goals, and to live together well. But good designs should also be brave – it’s easy to make people happy by giving them what they expect, but it’s much better to show them how unexpected ways of doing things can improve their lives in some way.” – Jacob van Rijs
The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile is one of Chile's oldest universities and one of the most recognized educational institutions in Latin America. The organizer of the lecture is the UC School of Architecture, which is part of the university.
- Date & time: March 30 – 20:30-21:30 (CET).
