Enno Zuidema to be speaker at LEAF International 2020 Virtual Forum

MVRDV director Enno Zuidema will be a speaker at the LEAF International 2020 Virtual Forum, themed around "Creating the Circular City".

Enno's lecture, titled "Sustainable cities: challenges for urbanism and city-making as energy, urban vision from MVRDV" will draw on his experience as director of MVRDV's urban studio, working on masterplans, urban visions, and research at a wide variety of scales.

For over 19 years, the LEAF Forum has been bringing together senior decision makers from leading international architectural practices, contractors, developers, engineers, designers and suppliers to discuss future building projects, as well as share ideas and best practice within the industry. For its 20th edition, the Leading European Architecture Forum will explore many international initiatives and examples of urban planning that are pursuing the concept of circularity within the built environment.

As major engines for economic growth, cities can drive the circular economy agenda forward to unlock economic, environmental, and social benefits. More than half of the world’s population currently lives in cities, while projections show an increase to two thirds by 2050. Cities consume over 75% of natural resources, produce over 50% of global waste, and emit between 60-80% of greenhouse gases. LEAF 2020 will look at how to enable the shift towards a more resource-efficient and circular building industry; how circular urban planning can make life healthier and safer; and discuss new possibilities in the built environment.

Date: 15 October 2020, 12:50 am CEST / 11:50 am BST (the entire forum takes place from 08:30 – 19:30 BST)
