Pierre des Courtis will be talking on Thursday 6 February about the transformation of Gaité-Montparnasse complex at EnerJ meeting in Paris. The title of his conference is "Retour d’expérience d’une rénovation tertiaire :  les Ateliers Gaité à Montparnasse:.
EnerJ meeting is a conference dedicated to energy efficiency and sustainability for the built environment. This year, a special focus will be put on large scale transformation projects. Les Ateliers Gaités, a project led by Unibail-Westfield, is MVRDV’s largest project currently under construction in Paris. The restructuring of this large urban block built in the 1970s, comprises a shopping centre, offices, a public library, a hotel and an underground car park, all of which will be retrofitted so as to reintroduce the human scale to an urban environment largely characterized by wide boulevards and monolithic structures. Energy efficiency was one of the main challenges of this complex transformation – yet it was also an opportunity to mobilize innovative solutions, such as water source heatpump, digitalization and blockchain.
