Fokke Moerel and Aser Giménez-Ortega on Glass Architecture and Innovation

undefined

Fokke Moerel, Partner and Studio Director at MVRDV and Aser Giménez-Ortega, associate director at MVRDV, and two researchers from TU Delft explore innovative techniques that show how glass can be used to a variety of unexpected effects, from a reintroduction of local character to a shift towards a future of radical architectural transparency.

On 10 April 2019, at 6 PM, in the beautiful location of Planetarium Ulrico Hoepli in Milan, during Milano Design Week 2019, they will talk about how the invention, and subsequent refinement, of modern glass manufacturing processes has made a greater variety of architectural designs possible – yet paradoxically, the glass building has instead become a symbol of global homogenisationoptions remain for designers who pursue transparency as an architectural ideal. What options remain, then, for designers who pursue transparency as an architectural ideal?
